Stephanie Raby is a multi-instrumentalist who has performed all over the world and is fluent in a variety of musical styles. She is an active soloist and chamber musician on violin, viola, and viola da gamba and a specialist in early music performance. She acquired her Bachelor of Music from the University of North Texas where she was privileged to work with Julia Bushkova and Cynthia Roberts among others, and Masters in Music from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the direction of Stanley Ritchie and EMI Faculty. In 2013 Stephanie was a winner of the Indianapolis Baroque Concerto Competition and had the opportunity to play with the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra and more recently, was a finalist with her group Les Touches in the 2015 Early Music International Young Artists Competition in York, England. Stephanie now plays with a diverse many groups including La Follia, Austin Troubadours, Texas Early Music Project, Ars Lyrica, Mountainside Baroque, Austin Baroque Orchestra (for which she is concertmaster), and is a founding member of the chamber ensemble Les Touches.
Though she has done extensive classical work, Stephanie enjoys performing in many other styles of music. As a Texas native she was quickly inducted into country fiddling and later into celtic styles as well. With a passion for improvisation she has also explored early music, blues, bluegrass, and jazz.
In addition to performing, Stephanie spends time arranging and composing original material which incorporates her love for many styles of music.
A versatile musician, Stephanie sings and plays several instruments. Because of this she has had opportunities to perform and record with many groups including Lonley Street Productions, Lynn Anderson and the American Metropole Orchestra, and OK Sweetheart.
